  • Costs
    • This is a privately funded club; the team is not affiliated or run by any school district.

    • School districts do not contribute any funding towards the program – it is funded by you, the parents.

    • Costs for the season will be communicated in July and August before the season.

    • However, a $500 deposit for MS and JV is due by the 2nd Wednesday in August each season—we must commit to and deposit to the league for our teams.
      • Deposits for MS and JV may be refunded upon request until September 20th.

      • The September 20th date will vary from year to year and the refund date will be communicated at the pre-season parents’ meeting.

      • Generally, a second $500 tuition payment and uniform costs are due ~ September 20th each year.

    • For the varsity team, a $500 deposit is due ~September 20th or the 2nd Monday practice in September, whichever is later.

    • Parents may privately request financial hardship from the GM.  A payment plan will be negotiated.

  • Team Snap

    • All practices and schedules will be communicated via this application.

JV/MS Schedule is due out by the league ~ September 15; Varsity due out ~ October 15th and once published by league will be posted on TeamSnap.

    • Cancellations due to weather, etc. will be done through the TeamSnap application.

  • Player Registration

    • JV and MS players must register with AAU Sports BEFORE stepping on the ice. Register on/after September 1.

    • Varsity Players must be registered with USA Hockey BEFORE STEPPING ON THE Ice.

    • Email your AAU or USA Hockey Registration number to the team's General Manager.

    • Registration with USA Hockey and/or AAU provides your child with secondary health insurance coverage after a deductible.

  • League and Team Forms

    • Parents and Players must complete the 4 mandated forms and provide them to the team GM as soon as possible.

    • All players are to provide the team GM with a copy of their school ID as proof of grade/school.

    • All players are required to submit a copy of their school schedule to the GM as proof of grade and school attendance.

    • All players and parents are required to read, complete, and return to GM the Locker Room Policy Form by the 2nd practice or September 15th (whichever is first).

  • Games & Practices

    • MS and JV games usually start the 1st week of October and run into March.  Roughly 16-18 games depending on the number of teams in each division.

    • MS practices are TBD and depend on available ice that can be acquired.

    • Varsity games start ~ Mid-November. Varsity games (16 games) usually begin the 2nd week of November and end at the end of January.  Playoffs immediately follow.

    • JV and Varsity practices every Monday (w/exceptions), starting 2nd Monday in September @ Cantiague Park at 9PM.

    • JV and Varsity practices start the 2nd Monday in September at 9 pm at Cantiague Park in Hicksville, NY.

    • Arrive 20 minutes before practice; Arrive 45 minutes before game.

    • If players are late or sick, please have the PLAYER call the coach.

      • MS - TBA

      • JV – Patrick Carroll (516-784-9818)

      • Varsity – Tom Carroll (917-682-4059)

    • Bring both sets of jerseys to every game!  If you don’t bring your jerseys and socks, the league (not us) won’t allow you to play in the game.

    • Priority Order when there are conflicts:  1st: School Sports; 2nd: Travel Games, 3rd: Our HS Games, 4th: Travel Practices, 5th: Our HS Practices, 6th: Everything else/Rec

    • HS Hockey is Competitive Play – Playing time is earned, especially at varsity level.  Practice hard, perform conditioning off the ice, go to public sessions and work on edges, support your teammates and improve yourself at home & on other teams.

    • Parents are cautioned that playing time is not equal for everyone on the team, although the costs to play may be the same. Playing time is determined by the coaches based on skill and game situations, and it is not negotiable or debatable.  The team is run like a school-sponsored team, and if you have a concern, see the 24-hour rule section.   There will be no refunds once the season has started.   We’d happily provide parents feedback on their players on where to improve.  We provide this feedback directly to players during practices and games; they should share it honestly with their parents.

  • 24 Hour Rule

    • Parents are not allowed to speak to any coach or GM after a game! Wait 24 hours, which will allow enough time for cooler heads to prevail and for some reflection. If you want to speak to the coach/GM, reach out.

  • Game Rules

    • Follows the USA Hockey rulebook.

    • Abuse of officials – Game Misconduct is automatic 3-game suspension

    • Suspensions escalate with a 12-month lookback rule. A normal 1-game suspension may become 2 games if within 12 months.   2 games becomes 4, etc.

    • The league enforces mouthpieces and neckguards (harder than they do in travel hockey). Wear it!  In the mouth, no fish hooks or chewed (flat) mouthpieces.

    • Respect opposing players, coaches, opposing parents, and officials.  This is not the NHL – “Relax, it’s only a game.”

    • Suspended players are NOT allowed to play or practice with the team.  They would not be covered under insurance.

    • Coaching staff and the GM have the right to sit and suspend players if they don’t follow instructions, rules, etc. Expulsion is also possible based on an infraction without refunds. We are approachable, so please talk to us if there is an issue to work out.

  • Injuries

    • Your personal insurance is used to cover all costs.

    • Your secondary insurance is either AAU or USA Hockey. However, there may be a deductible. Please check with them directly.

    • The league and this club bear no responsibility for your medical bills.

    • Concussion Protocol.  If the league’s trainer or a coach removes a player from a game/practice due to a possible concussion: The player must submit a physician’s note along with the league’s form to our team GM.  The player cannot play in another game or practice until medically cleared.
