Games & Practices
-
All practices and 16 games will be communicated via the TeamSnap application. The JV and MS game schedule is published ~ Sept. 20th. The varsity game schedule comes out ~ October 15th.
-
Parents and/or players are expected to check off their availability in TeamSnap for every practice and game. If not attending, please add a reason “note” (family event, travel game conflict, etc.).
-
MS practices will be very limited and will depend on available ice time that can be acquired. Ice is very limited on Long Island due to team expansion in every league.
-
JV and Varsity practices every Monday (w/exceptions) generally starting 2nd Monday in September @ Cantiague Park at 9PM.
-
Priority Order: 1st: School Sports; 2nd: Travel Games, 3rd: Our HS Games, 4th: Travel Practices, 5th: Our HS Practices, 6th: Everything else (other sports, rec league, etc.)
-
Cancellations due to weather, etc. will be done through the TeamSnap application usually the same day (~4 PM) of the game. Some of the MS games will be played outdoors.
-
Arrive 20 minutes before practice; Arrive 45 minutes before the game.
-
If players are late or sick, the PLAYER is to call the coach, not the GM.
-
Bring both sets of jerseys and socks to every game! If you don’t bring your jerseys and socks, the league (not us) won’t allow you to play in the game.

24 Hour Rule
-
Parents are not allowed to speak to any coach or GM after a game! Please wait 24 hours, which will allow enough time for cooler heads to prevail and for some reflection. If you want to speak to the coach/GM, reach out.
-
HS Hockey is Competitive Play – Playing time is earned, especially at the varsity level. Practice hard, perform conditioning off the ice, go to public sessions and work on edges, support your teammates and improve yourself at home & on other teams.
-
Parents are cautioned that playing time is not equal for everyone on the team, although the costs to play may be the same. Playing time is determined by the coaches based on skill and different game situations. Playing time is not negotiable or debatable, like school-sponsored teams. We are happy to provide parents’ feedback on their players, which is the same feedback we provide the players. They should share this feedback honestly with their parents.
-
The club reserves the right to sit and suspend players if they don’t follow instructions, rules, etc. No refunds will be provided.
League Rules
-
League follows the USA Hockey rulebook.
-
Abuse of officials – Game Misconduct is automatic 3-game suspension
-
Suspensions escalate with a 12-month lookback rule. For example, a normal 1-game suspension may become 2 games within 12 months. 2 games may become 4, etc.
-
The league enforces mouthpieces and neck-guards (harder than they do in travel hockey). Wear it! In the mouth, no fishhooks or chewed (flat) mouthpieces.
-
Respect opposing players, coaches, opposing parents, and officials. This is not the NHL – “Relax, it’s only a game.”
-
Suspended players are NOT allowed to play or practice with the team. They are not covered under USA Hockey insurance.
Insurance & Injuries
-
Your personal insurance is used to cover all costs. You must have insurance to have your child play on this team or in this league. Hockey is a dangerous sport, and injuries are common. The league and our club do not bear any responsibility for medical bills.
-
Your secondary insurance is USA Hockey. However, there is a deductible, and you should check their website for more details.
-
Concussion Protocol. If the league’s trainer or a coach removes a player from a game/practice due to a possible concussion, the player must submit a physician’s note along with the league’s concussion form to the GM after an exam by a qualified physician. The player cannot play in another game or practice until medically cleared.
